My name is Shinya Yamaide, and I am the team leader of the CELLiST Solution Center (CSC) at Ajinomoto CELLiST Korea Co., Inc. I have worked at Ajinomoto for 17 years, with 10 years in R&D and 3 years in the factory focused on amino acid fermentation. Prior to joining ACK in July 2024, I spent 4 years in R&D developing cell culture media.
Vision at CSC
As the new team leader at CSC, what are your key goals and vision for the team over the next few years?
I first felt that CSC members are passionate and eager to embrace new challenges. At the same time, they sometimes feel uncertain about their decisions due to their lack of experience compared to the Japan HQ. Therefore, I aim to provide ongoing support and encouragement to help them build confidence and foster individual growth, ultimately strengthening the organization as a whole.
Leadership Approach
Having led teams in Japan, what leadership principles do you plan to bring to CSC, and how will they help improve our work?
Challenges in Transition
What challenges have you faced transitioning from Japan HQ to CSC, and how have you addressed them so far?
While there were challenges due to cultural differences, I believe these gaps are gradually closing through regular face-to-face meetings.

Leadership Approach
Having led teams in Japan, what leadership principles do you plan to bring to CSC, and how will they help improve our work?
When managing members in R&D, I focus on the following points:
① Approach experimental results sincerely and objectively. We must always evaluate findings based on fundamental principles, free from subjective bias, to reach the best conclusions.
② Empower CSC members to take the lead while I play a supportive role. If team members know what they want to achieve but are struggling to make progress, I identify and eliminate obstacles. If they lose their direction, I help them refocus on their main objectives and provide relevant guidance.
These principles are universally applicable, and I will implement them at CSC as well.

Future Development

As a company rooted in amino acids, "Team Ajinomoto" takes pride in our superior biotechnology expertise and problem-solving capabilities. We've built strong relationships with many customers, and our technical support clearly resonates with them. We believe that by leveraging these strengths and providing detailed support, we can elevate the CELLiST brand and expand our influence.
